The Moon: Visiting Earth's Nearest Neighbour 20 July 1969
$20.00
The beauty of a Harvest Moon is truly awesome. The Earth's moon has been a source of inspiration, curiosity and monthly influence on tides and humanity since time immemorial. Ancient astronomers and astrologers researched and consulted the heavens, as did rustic folk throughout the ages, creating their myths of goddesses or moon spinners, and nursery rhymes about the Man in the Moon. On 20 July 1969, astronaut Neil Armstrong made history by being the first person to make the space journey and become the Man on the Moon. This afternoon session explores the history of human interaction with the Moon and commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Apollo lunar landing. Fee: $20 due by Friday 19 July
