ISLE OF MAN: BASTION OF INDEPENDENCE IN THE IRISH SEA
$20.00
Standing proud in the middle of the Irish Sea, the Isle of Man was separated from mainland Britain by rising sea levels some 8,500 years ago. Over subsequent millennia, various peoples arrived by boat and gave their individual cultural stamp to the landscape, and British, Irish, Norse, Scots and English added their languages and cultures to the demographic contours and traditions of the island. The Isle of Man today has democratic self-government through Tynwald, one of the oldest continuous parliaments in the world, under the Queen as Lord of Mann.
