Bryndwr: The Echo of Celtic mountains and streams
$10.00
Welsh is one of the ancient Celtic languages of Europe, and the mother tongue of the British tribes prior to the arrival of Romans or Anglo-Saxons. Bryndwr is one of very few Welsh names to be linked to places in New Zealand. Charles and Clara Jeffreys received the 100 acres of land, across the sparkling waters of the Wairarapa from Fendall Town, as a wedding gift. These two sessions will intertwine the colonial history of Bryndwr with key places in west Wales, where Charles Jeffreys' family home of Glandyfi Castle overlooks the Afon Dyfi (River Dovey), enjoying vistas of mountains such as Cader Idris, and proximity of the village of Penhelig.
